We are a DoD Squad devoted to serious and realistic teamplay. We try to use squad tactics as much as possible to achieve tha game original and primary objective: taking flags. [4th] Army was founded on September 1st, 2001 by a group of four people who were playing Half-Life, FireArms and Day of Defeat itself since the Beta 1.0 version. They decided to form a new clan to fight in the various leagues and ladders by putting enphasis on teamwork and co-operation into a mod which was becoming more and more about personal kills, and less focusing on which team would emerge victorious. In its early stages there were also an Operation Flashpoint section, that soon was closed for concentrating every effort on the teamplay gaming offered by DoD. At that point many players left the unit, looking for other OFP clans. We started playing some scrimmages with other clans and joined various ETO (European Theatre of Operations) league campaigns as an Allied side Clan, making regular amphibious assaults on Omaha beach and storming the streets of Caen. Those were the good times of Beta 1.3b version... After the launch of Beta 2.0 version there was a new migration of players to other games. We reorganized, recruited new people and restarted league competitions, that, with version Beta 3.1 and a team of serious and good gamers, led to continuous fightings in ETO, ClanWars and the ClanBase DoD UK Ladder. After Christmas, 2002, our Commander suddenly disappeared from the clan, leading, along with some other circumstances, to a gradual stop of any activity. After a couple of months the Clan reorganized again, recruited new player, started playing some friendly matches and then joined the Enemy Down DoD League, where we are still competing today. The level of playing had dramatically increased since the launch of DoD 1.0 on Steam, the new playing network that replaced WON (World Opponent Network) Servers and the development of various tweaking tricks (as well as real cheats), and the path to win matches again was hard and long and it took every possible effort. It also led to the sudden and painful separation of some members who looked more for extreme competitive playing rather than group fun and the creation of the 103rd Legione Italica Clan. But our team, concentrating on the group and friendship values continued its expansion and a real chain of command with HQ, Staff and Companies was created. In 2006 we also added Red Orchestra and its various mods to the played games, as it offered a lot of realistic team fighting and the "old DoD community flavour". We reached our finest hour in ED during Spring, 2008, when we reached the third position in ED DoD Ladder standing. We also started playing Call of Duty 4 and created the "Silent Eagles" special unit for competitive playing. Then, during last Summer pause, we decided to focus our efforts on Red Orchestra and its mods, Darkest Hour and Mare Nostrum as it is by far the most realistic combat simulation available at the moment. We also separated the Call of Duty 4 section, leading to the constitution of the twinning Baker Team Clan, led by a former 4th officer. And so we have arrived at the very present. We are going on and on, as we have done in the last seven years, to bring honour and teamplay on the battlefields... |
